Instead of leaking precious flavor down your stem, it holds in all of the shisha taste and pulls through the spire in the middle. This allows the shisha packed to smoke longer and stay moist, so it's nearly impossible to burn. Also, the design utilizes airflow to provide even and substantial heating.
